SARDINES

Our props master made the plasticine sardines that were then moulded in plaster. As you can see, there were 3 fish per mould. On the outside edges there were slots and ridges that were used for registration. Vaseline was added to the mould in so the fish didn't stick.

Knox Gelatin was then mixed up thicker than the directions on the box. Mixing in food colouring, a coat of black and silvery blue was painted into the mould. When that was set, the mould was filled uncoloured gelatin.

Set up was quite fast so many could be made in a day.

Finally they were given a coat of baby powder so they weren't sticky.
